Meeting the GG's!

A few weeks ago Samuel finally got to meet his Missouri great-grandparents, Roe and King. They made the long drive on a week when no one else would be visiting so they would not have to share this little boy with anyone.

I think he stole her heart pretty fast.
GG Roe brought lots of presents

Samuel loves kicking GG King in the chest
and GG Roe loves the disposable camera.

The other big event in the Martin house is starting solid foods. I never
imagined we would do this so soon, but this champion sleeper started
waking up at night, and he decided he was ready for more.
And he is loving it.

We started with just a little oatmeal in a bottle.
And then moved on to the spoon.
And a week later we are starting squash.
I say no more veggies for mommy,
now that Samuel is eating them on his own!

And...
we got to see Dara, Jeremy, Olivia, Boone,
and little baby Eli, visiting from Slovakia!

And, to wrap things up,
Samuel's first Cru staff conference.
Trying to get a little shut-eye,
resting his little rear on the table.

A very happy 3 months

Samuel and I had a little 3 month photo shoot today
while Daddy was gone.
Happy 3 months to our boy!

Sort of looks like a mug shot

We also went to prayer walk on campus today
and ran into all these friends!
Samuel was clearly excited to see them.

This little boy is making this fall extra fun!
This week we went to an apple orchard, and
we've also had on the schedule
our Cru Fall Getaway, a few weddings and
a "big, green tractor" birthday party!

My nephew needs to go into modeling.

That's how you pick the good ones.

 Happy 2nd birthday, Caleb!

 Happy birthday to Mom, too!
It's hard to get a picture with a boy with cake!

Happy boy!

Celebrating with the Chutes and Sherards.
We got to spend time with lots of friends that we don't see often
and enjoy one of the best wedding receptions I've ever been to-
Chick-fil-A, Krispy Kreme, homemade ice cream,
and drinks in glass bottles!

And later that same night-
celebrating David and Katie with
Jenna, Amber, and the Hassells

And Fall Getaway-
lots of fun but definitely a challenge with a little baby.
So not too many pictures from that weekend.

Firsts

It's amazing all the "firsts" you experience when you're brand new to the world!

First road trip
We drove the 6 hours to Alabama for a little family reunion time,
and Samuel was amazing! I think not quite 2 weeks old
is the best time to travel with kids. Samuel is a sleeping champ.

First football Saturday
Because Clemson and Mizzou were playing at the same time,
the plan was to change clothes at halftime.
But the Clemson stuff only lasted a few minutes
due to an unfortunate diaper situation.
I think Samuel really does love Clemson though.

First trip to Dollywood
Again, pretty easy with a 6 week old. He slept through it all.

First First Friday Parade
And he slept through it.

First Sunday in the nursery at HopePoint
Not surprisingly, the sweet ladies who held him said
he slept the whole time.

We had a first too- our first anniversary!
Boo and Sue were wonderful to stay with Samuel
so we could have a night out to celebrate!

One month of Samuel

As little Samuel Regan is sleeping on my chest right now, it's amazing to think that he's been here one whole month and that he's only been here for one month. We love him!

Way back on July 6, I was told that I was already 3 cm dilated and Samuel was most likely going to be coming early. On July 23, more than 2 long weeks later, I was scheduled to be at the hospital at 6:00 am to be induced. Instead, I woke up at 3:30 that morning with contractions already 5 minutes apart. Patrick and I got to the hospital at 5:00 am, an hour before we thought we would be going, and Samuel was here in the world by 10:16 am, all 9 ½ pounds of him. It was a whirlwind morning!

We're enjoying this little boy so much!

All the way to the end

We were hoping weeks 39 and 40 wouldn't come. But they came... and went. And I look about as miserable as I feel! And apparently Patrick and I both wear the same clothes a lot.
